【回顧歷史】「新年鳥類調查」珍貴剪報曝光

這張剪報保存於民國70年東海大學野鳥社總檢中，記錄了當時「新年鳥類調查」活動的盛況。新年鳥類調查至民國70年已經是第9年舉辦，於北中南三區分頭進行。中區是由台中賞鳥會(吳森雄先生)及東海大學環境科學研究中心(顏重威先生)聯合主辦，調查樣區為霧社、合歡山地區，從霧社到鳶峰共有7條路線，報名群眾多達百人，但是因為鳥類調查時人數不宜太多，限制每條調查路線名額約10人左右，因此將近半數的報名人士無法參與盛會呢!

1980年代望遠鏡並不普及，但是由報導卻可以感受到當時鳥人對賞鳥這件事的熱烈程度，而大家可能還不知道的是，這熱度也是點燃台灣最早環境保育行動的火種呢！當時所留下來的鳥類紀錄提供了我們一窺30年前台灣鳥類的分佈概況，是非常珍貴的資料。

即將在年底舉辦的「新年數鳥嘉年華」除了緣自「北美的聖誕節鳥類調查(Christmas Bird Count, CBC)」，亦是承襲過往「新年鳥類調查」的活動精神，方法上融入更多科學的設計，希望在歡樂的賞鳥活動中同時進行資料的收集；再搭配現今普及的望遠鏡、相機與網路資源，我們欣賞、認識鳥類的方式又更多元、更有趣了。溫故知新，期待「臺灣數鳥嘉年華」也能成為眾鳥人們一年一次的約定！
